How To Worry Less By Focusing On What You Can Control

One of the HARDEST challenges I've found as a Dad is worrying about stuff that's out of my control.

I mean as soon as you leave the hospital for your first car ride home you're automatically a different person.

You start worrying about all the potential bad things that could happen, things you've never worried about before in your entire life!

And it's natural, it comes from immense love. This beautiful little bundle of joy depends entirely on you! You've never loved or cared about anything so deeply before.

It's an amazing thing, but it's also hard ha-ha! The thought of anything bad happening to them is crippling.

But it's easy in life to spend too much time focusing on things that are out of our control instead of the many things that we can control which is a much better use of our time and energy.

Here's a few things that we can control and some ideas on how to improve them.

✅ YOUR MINDSET

- Watch less T.V. and the news

- Spend more time in nature

- Let go of things being perfect

- Read more books

- Meditate

- Exercise

✅ YOUR HEALTH

- Eat a healthy diet made up of mostly whole foods, and less processed foods

- Go to bed earlier. We can't control how our kids sleep so aim to go to bed a bit earlier, 7hrs is good

- Drink mostly water

- Get active every or at least most days

Other things you can control…

✅ How much you practice gratitude

✅ How you treat others

✅ How much time you spend on your phone, especially when your with your kids

✅ How attentive you are, how well you listen

✅ What your kids watch, read and eat

Taking care of your body and mind is the best investment you can make.

Instead of obsessing over the infinite amount of things you can’t change, focus on what you CAN!

Sure we can do all the right things and disaster and unexpected tragedies can strike us down at anytime. Life is truly short. So make the most of it and if you're lucky enough to live a long life make sure you're as healthy and able bodied as you possibly can be.

And just remember it's not about being perfect, nobody is, it's simply about trying to be better.

And last of all, NEVER let the weather determine your mood! 😉☀️🌧😁🤷‍♂️
